One of the greatest voices in pop music, Lisa Gerrard of the duo Dead Can Dance will visit Varna for the first time with the Mystery of Bulgarian Voices choir. The Best Original Score Golden Globe award winner (for her music for the film “Gladiator” created together with composer Hans Zimmer) is the special guest of the choir in their new album “BooCheeMish” produced by Schubert Music Productions, which will be officially released on 25 May.
“Pora Sotunda”, the first single of the album was released in December 2017 and was officially presented on air at BBC. British magazine “The Arts Desk” named it “the vinyl of the month” alongside other releases by Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson and others. The concert will present the album, which contains original compositions and remakes of folklore melodies created by composers Petar Dundakov, Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell.
“I think this project became a real Mystery of voices, it carries incredible energy and power and as if transcends invisible borders,” composer Petar Dundakov says.
The Intermezzo Programme is a joint initiative with Varna Summer International Music Festival.
