For the fourth time the Europe-wide acclaimed Bulgarian director Galin Stoev stages a play by Ivan Vyrypaev, an emblem of New Russian drama. “Delhi Dance” consists of seven interrelated short plays about a dancer, her dying mother, a hesitant lover and a ballet critic. Together, they form an intricate weave that can be read as a mosaic picture of how suffering confronts us in life. In the heart of all the seven stories is hidden a mystic dance that marks forever those who have ever seen it. This dance resolves all contradictions in life. Galin Stoev stages the action of the play as if happening on a film set. “Delhi Dance” is a philosophical theatre performance with fine acting and poetic sensibility that confronts basic questions of human condition.
