“Mister Balkansky” is a theatrical version of the famous Bulgarian literary character Bay Ganyo. In the mid 1980s the writer Georgi Danailov adapted Aleko Konstantinov’s feuilletons for the stage and his play has not ceased to be performed ever since. Bina Haralampieva’s performance interprets the subject of the popular national character through the prism of current reality. This time, Mr. Balkansky is a contemporary Bulgarian politician in an incessant comedy of manners and characters. The famous TV actor Gerasim Georgiev-Gero is in no way inferior to Georgi Kaloyanchev’s historic performance that has become landmark for this hero. He skillfully presents a conflicting character by lending him insidious ease in which everything may look like fun and be very serious indeed… Nomination for the “Askeer” Award for best actor in a leading role – Gerasim Georgiev-Gero.
