Director Plamen Markov offers a new reading of Shakespeare’s history play that built the character of one of the most notorious villains in world drama: Richard, Duke of Gloucester, later to be king Richard III. The performance tells about the gambling road to his seizure of power but offers no unambiguous solutions aiming to have an all-round look at the complex personality of Richard who is a cruel ruler and manipulator, on the one hand, and a gifted, flexible and decisive man, on the other. Ikar 2012 Award for best actor in a leading role (Stoyan Radev), for best original music (Kalin Nikolov) and for best technical implementation.
