Fifteen-year-old Christopher is different in many ways. He has an extraordinary mind, however, he seems helpless in his everyday life. After being unfairly suspected of killing Wellington – the neighbour’s dog, he decided to investigate the case on his own. He started writing a book, where he noted every fact related to the case, so that he could unravel the mystery of the murder. The criminal plot whirled his family and friends in a true kaleidoscope and he faced the greatest test in his life so far. The cornerstone was the lie and a world founded on logic could not tolerate this. Can a lie be for a good cause? How well do we know the person beside us? And are we ready to accept the other person the way he is, if he is different from us?
Boyan Ivanov is a renowned theatre director, who is currently the director of Ruse Drama Theatre. He graduated Theatre Studies from the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts “Krastyo Sarafov” (NATFA) and specialised in directing in the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main. With “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”, he created an engaging and dynamic spectacle based on the skillful drama adaptation of Mark Haddon’s novel of the same name by British playwright Simon Stephens. On stage, the digital scenography with constantly changing images collaborates successfully with the live performance of the actors with carefully choreographed movements. The character of Christopher is at the centre of the staging, with the distinguishing and plastic performance of the young debuting actor Kaloyan Zhelev.
The project has been implemented with the financial support of the National Culture Fund.
With English surtitles.
