A CONCERT FEATURING THE GREATEST HITS OF TWO LEGENDARY MUSICIANS WHO HAVE CHANGED THE WORLD OF MUSIC
The Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam is the only concert hall in the world that keeps a jazz big band together with the classical orchestra. For years its jazz orchestra with chief conductor Dennis Mackrel is renowned as one of the best in Europe and stands out for its own style and high quality. It gained international fame thanks to its unique cooperation with first-class soloists.
The first visit of the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw in Bulgaria is organized jointly by the Varna Summer International Theatre and International Music Festivals with a special concert together with the American soul music diva Madeline Bell. Conducted by Rob Horsting they will perform arrangements of the greatest hits of two icons of R&B and pop music such as Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder.
Madeline Bell entered the music stage in late 1960s and made a remarkable career between USA and Europe in the styles of gospel, pop, soul and jazz music. The richness and deep emotionality of her voice is conquering. In 2003, she was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Music Heritage Federation in the United Kingdom for her “outstanding contribution to the music industry”.
The Intermezzo Programme is a joint initiative with the International Music Festival Varna Summer.
The concert is carried out with the support of the Dutch Embassy and Air France KLM Delta Bulgaria.
