More than 20 years already in the theatre, Silviu Purcarete has made a name of himself as one of the most original theatre and opera directors in Europe. In Romania he has worked most notably for National Theatre “Marin Sorescu” – Craiova. In 1996 he became director of the Centre Dramatique National de Limoge, France. He now lives in Paris where he has his own theatre company. His stagings ( “Decameron”, “Pheadra”, “Orestia”, “Ubu Rex”, “La Boheme” and others) stand out with powerful vision and ornate theatricality. He has won many awards and international critical acclaim.

Silviu Purcarete comes for the first time to MTF “Varna Summer” to present one of his newest productions. “Twelfth Night” is an original and bold staging on the classical Shakespearean comedy with striking scenery and refined eroticism. This fantastic and dreamlike performance, artistically and wittily juggling with various theatrical styles, questions the thin borderline between love and madness

“Twelfth Night” won the Best Performance and Best Director’s prizes in the 2005 Romanian National Theatre Awards.

It turns out to be one of the most beautiful, richly rewarding theatrical experiences of the year.
