On 5 June at 4 pm in the Drama Theatre – Varna, lobby I balcony, we invite you to a meeting with the French playwright, director and actress Salome Lelouch. She is a special guest of the Varna Summer Theatre Festival on the occasion of the presentation of the first Bulgarian production of her acclaimed play “You Shouldn’t Have Said So!” directed by Javor Gardev, part of the Bulgarian Selection and the Showcase programme.
The first day of the 31st Varna Summer International Theatre Festival captured Varna’s main square and the Drama Theatre with street performances from the Czech Republic and the ode to theatre, “Performance and ½” .
This year’s edition includes international educational initiatives, meetings and an academic conference.
Celebrated actor John Malkovich is starring in a theatre and opera production that will be presented together with the Varna Summer Music Festival at the end of July.
From June 4 to June 9, the “Varna Summer” Theater Festival hosts a workshop for young theater critics (between 18 and 35 years old), held by the International Association of Theater Critics. The working languages are English and French. The mentor of the English-speaking group is Ivan Medenica (Serbia), and of the French-speaking group – Jean-Pierre Hahn (France). The thirty-first edition of the festival will traditionally take place between 1st and 10th June 2023 on various stages in the city of Varna. Soon we will announce highlights of its programme. Stay tuned.
Between 16th and 20th June 2022 Goethe-Institute Bulgaria will host a theatre workshop based on Heiner Müller’s HAMLETMASCHINE. It is aimed at young actors, directors, theatre and art students and young professionals. Application deadline: 30 April 2022.
