Siri Hermansen’s work is an ongoing artistic investigation creating a contrast between the immediate visual observation and the conceptual significance of various objects. The integration of everyday objects in her art invites the observer to reflect on social issues such as consumerism, industrialism and politics. Borderline is a three channelled sound installation transmitting one Muslim, one Christian and one Jewish prayer through outdoor speakers. Regardless of country borders or continents, ethnic belonging, class or age, or whether you are a woman and a man; religions give hope and security to millions of people through out the world. The Muslim, Christian and Jewish religions – are all dominating religions in Europe and most of the rest of the world. The speakers will be placed up in the air creating an invisible triangle of sound. The prayers will be composed rhythmically, sometimes mixed harmoniously and sometimes they will collide and overlap each-other. The prayers will interfere the sound-scape of the place it is performed and when moving away from it, the sound will melt into the existing sound-scape of the city and disappear.
