The team of the Varna Summer International Theatre Festival and the Via Fest Foundation invite journalists and media representatives to an official press conference on the occasion of the opening of the 34th edition of one of Bulgaria’s most significant theatre events.

The press conference will take place on 2 June 2026 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Balcony Foyer of the Drama Theatre – Varna.

The event will present the highlights of the festival’s 2026 international and Bulgarian selections, details about the parallel programme, the Showcase module, as well as the special creative meetings and conferences.

The press conference will feature:

Tsvetana Maneva and Prof. Dr Nikolay Yordanov – Via Fest Foundation and Varna Summer International Theatre Festival;

Diana Dobreva – director of the productions “Little England” by the Ivan Vazov National Theatre and “The Dirigible in Love. The Fate of the Poet” by Nikolay Massalitinov Drama Theatre – Plovdiv, both included in the festival programme;

Iriney Konstantinov – Director of Sofia Theatre and Chair of the Bulgarian Association for Theatre;

Daniela Dimova – Director of the Varna Theatre and Music Production Centre / Stoyan Bachvarov Drama Theatre;

Vera Stoykova – Director of the Varna State Puppet Theatre.

The meeting with the media will offer an opportunity for discussion about the programme of this year’s edition, its main artistic highlights and accompanying events, which make Varna Summer an important forum for performing arts, professional exchange and encounters between artists, audiences and international guests.
