This year, the Varna Summer International Theatre Festival once again invites audiences to experience the festival not only through the encounters in the theatre halls, but also through its blog — a space for conversations, reviews, and diverse perspectives on the events in the programme. Follow the festival atmosphere at varnatheatrefest.viafest.org.
Every day, the blog introduces readers to artists, participants, and guests of the festival. There, they can find interviews with directors, actors, and theatre researchers, reviews of performances from the Bulgarian and international programme, as well as texts that trace the ideas, themes, and encounters shaping this year’s edition.
A special place will also be given to reviews by international guests, which will add to the perspective on the festival programme through the lens of different theatrical contexts.
The blog’s content is created with the participation of students from NATFA “Krastyo Sarafov”, majoring in Theatre Studies and Theatre Management — Maria Ibrishimova, Lachezar Georgiev, and Blagovest Asenov — as well as theatre researchers Anita Angelova and Jacqueline Dobreva. The editor-in-chief of the blog is theatre critic Dr Angelina Georgieva, a lecturer at the Academy.
The blog is an invitation to a longer and closer conversation with the stage, the artists, and the ideas that drive contemporary theatre.
