And We Play Romeo and Juliet is a performance that retells one of the most well-known love stories in world drama with lightness, imagination, and a clear sense of theatrical play. Rather than following the tragedy literally, the production transforms the feud between the Capulets and the Montagues into a witty rivalry between two theatrical “families” — dramatic and puppet actors. From this inventive premise, the performance unfolds the familiar plot with ease, imagination, and a variety of theatrical means of expression, making it accessible and engaging for younger audiences.
Aimed at school-age viewers, the production combines humor, playfulness, and emotional clarity, without abandoning Shakespeare’s great themes — love, conflict, impulsiveness, and the lack of understanding between people. In this way, it speaks both lightly and meaningfully about the need for patience, wisdom, and the ability to love. With this production, Stoyan Radev makes his debut in puppet theatre.
