BEHIND YOU is an original solo performance by Filip Milanov, part of the repertoire of Ballet Arabesque the leading Bulgarian contemporary dance company, which for more than half a century has been developing and establishing the modern dance language in Bulgaria.

Filip Milanov a choreographer from the younger generation of Bulgarian artists, whose work is oriented toward contemporary dance theatre and the exploration of identity constructs a stage world in which the body becomes a vessel of memory, resistance, and transformation. At the center of his artistic inquiry stands the human being in their fluidity, in their attempt to understand and reinterpret themselves.

BEHIND YOU traces the relationship between the conscious and the unconscious, between what we remember and what we repress. Memories disintegrate and reassemble, appear and vanish, leaving behind traces that shape the sense of the “self.” The psyche’s ability to erase, conceal, and rearrange lived experience becomes the main driving force of the stage action.

With its concentrated form and psychological depth, the performance raises questions about conformism, self-acceptance, and the possibility of inner liberation, leaving the audience with a sense of empathy and a quiet hope for overcoming the boundaries between the inner and the outer world.
