The actress Albena Stavreva unfolds her talents not only as an actress but also as a playwright and director, to create a world where a tiny matchbox holds not only a childhood, but an entire universe. Her one-woman show In the Dark leads us along the edge—of reason, of the world, of memory. It introduces us to Gichka Kukuto – a foundling raised by a village priest, who lives alone in the church bell tower. Her stories reflect the absurd, forgotten world of a small village, blending comedy and tragedy, soaked in naive wisdom and mystical insight. They take us on a journey through the labyrinth of human fragility, where imagination becomes salvation and love – the only reliable compass.
