Monday in the Sun is a physical dance theatre piece that brings together Bedirhan Dehmen (Bogazici Performing Arts Ensemble) and Safak Uysal (Laboratuar performance arts research and project lab). The piece focuses on the issue of companionship among men through historical and cultural images of friendship. Monday in the Sun questions friendship beyond heroisms and compromises in an inter-disciplinary framework, supported by dimensions of set, video and sound. The whole piece takes place within the set-up of an imaginary boat-ride from one side of the Bosphorus to the other. At this point, two choreographers are accompanied by the video and sound designs of Dogus Bitecik. Garajistanbul is today Turkey’s civil cultural transformation project and one of the most renowned cultural centers in Europe. The 3rd floor of a carpark, a grand space that covers 600 square metersis the place where the creations of today and now gain visibility in Turkey’s contemporary scene of theatre, dance, music and other interdisciplinary arts.
