Nina Nikolina’s project Jazz and Traditions showcases a unique style that reinterprets Bulgarian folk songs in a non-traditional way, blending folklore, ethno-jazz, flamenco, and vocal and instrumental improvisations.
The repertoire includes popular songs like Izlel e Delyo Haydutin, Nazad, nazad, mome Kalino, a.o., as well as unreleased authentic songs. The folk songs and pop hits are reimagined in contemporary musical genres with jazz, funk, R&B, and electronic dance sounds. In a brief segment, the artist “translates” myths, legends, and humorous texts from dialects.
Nina Nikolina Live is not just a traditional concert but a complete narrative about the customs and traditions of the Bulgarian lands.
The event is part of the Intermezzo programme, a joint initiative with the Varna Summer International Music Festival.
