Ivan Stanev (29.06.1959 – 01.12.2023) was one of the great reformers of the Bulgarian theatre in the second half of the 1980s. After an invitation from Heiner Müller in 1988 to present his performance “The Wound “Woyzeck” in West Berlin, he remained living and working in Germany, where he continued to create daring experimental performances and visual projects.
Jeanette Spassova, who has worked with Ivan Stanev in almost all of his shows and at the same time established herself as one of the landmark actresses of the Volksbühne in Berlin, as well as director Javor Gardev and cultural historian Alexander Kiossev talk about his impressive theatrical journey.
