When the Roses Dance is one of the most beautiful and poetic plays by Valeri Petrov. Although he wrote relatively few original dramatic works — only about five plays — this text has become one of his most beloved and frequently staged pieces. The play was first performed in 1961 on the stage of the Satirical Theatre Aleko Konstantinov, directed by Grisha Ostrovski.
Today, this poetic parable about love comes to life in a new stage interpretation that combines the humor, lyricism, and philosophical depth of the original text. The performance intertwines several stories of love across different ages and life situations, united by the dialogue between the Young Man and the Old Man — a kind of conversation about time, hope, and the meaning of the feelings that accompany us throughout life.
