Start of the digital programme on viafest.org
On 3 June, the digital programme presented within the framework of the World Theatre in Sofia and the Varna Summer International Theatre Festival will start with the streaming of the French performance on “The Double Inconstancy” by Pierre de Marivaux directed by Galin Stoev at 7 pm. The programme offers streaming for a limited period of time and with free access of earlier productions of both Galin Stoev and one of the landmark directors on the European stage today – the Lithuanian Oskaras Koršunovas, who we present with his landmark performance “The Seagull”. Their more recent productions are part of this year’s edition of both festivals.
Here’s how you can watch the streaming.
For this purpose you need a good internet connection. You can access the streaming directly through the webpages of both production on the website of Varna Summer International Theatre Festival or World Theatre in Sofia. The start and end times of the online broadcast are listed under each title. During this period, a window with the video will be waiting for you on the corresponding page of each performance, which you just need to play. Subtitles are embedded and start automatically. If you wish to watch in full screen, press the F key on your keyboard (press it again to return) or use the button in the window itself at the top right. The digital programme is only available on the territory of Bulgaria. Performances are streamed in the original language and with subtitles in Bulgarian, and “The Seagull” is also available in English.

On the occasion of theatre director Galin Stoev’s participation in the festival programme with “The Hague” we present his earlier production – “The Double Inconstancy” staged in 2019 at the ThéâtredelaCité in Toulouse, of which he is also the artistic director. The staging offers a contemporary reading of Pierre de Marivaux’s classic comedy of 1723.
Nomination of the Award of French theatre critics 2020 for performance of the year, for best stage design (Alban Ho Van’s), for a Theatre Revelation of the Year (for Maud Gripon and Thibaut Prigent) and for best actress (Melodie Richard).

This year the festival brings to Sofia the highly acclaimed Lithuanian director Oskaras Koršunovas’ production of “Othello”. In this relation we present online his landmark production of “The Seagull” by A. P. Chekhov. It was created in the laboratory studio of his theatre OKT and builds up a common intimate space between actors and spectators. The play is about theatre, art and artists. It is an identifiable drama that delves into the workings of the human soul.
